Webcast on augmentative alternative communication for socially valued adult roles: Policymaker version

Abstract: This webcast addresses clinicians and presents information on evidenced-based vocabulary symbol sets that are more relevant and meaningful in social roles, situations, and environments encountered by adults who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices. These eight vocabulary sets that support socially valued adult roles are frequently not available in pre-programed devices or commonly used visual symbol systems. Adults who use ACC devices can expect to use these vocabulary symbol sets while engaging with other individuals in everyday activities, including: college life, emergency preparedness, employment, intimacy and sexual relations, reporting or telling about being a victim of a crime, healthcare, personal assistance, and transportation.
